Dr. Jeffrey Schein, Professor and Director of the Department of Jewish Education at the Laura and Alvin Siegel College of Judaic Studies, will be the Congregation Dor Hadash Scholar-in-Residence in 2012. Dr. Schein has served as the Senior Consultant for Jewish Education for the Jewish Reconstructionist Federation, and advised education programs nationwide. A graduate of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College and the doctoral program in curriculum studies of Temple University, he is the author of Creative Jewish Education: A Reconstructionist Perspective and Windows on the Jewish Soul: Teaching the Values of Spiritual Peoplehood, among numerous other publications.
Following the Scholar-in-Residence weekend, Dr. Schein will join Reconstructionist rabbis from across the country at the national Reconstructionist Rabbinical Association annual conference, convening this year in San Diego, March 18-21.
