Martin Luther King Jr. Community Day of Service
No Place for Hate: How to be an Ally
Sunday, January 20 • 9:00 a.m.

On Sunday, January 20, CDH will hold the Annual MLK Community Mitzvah Day to commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King’s dedication to service learning, social justice, and diversity among all religions. Our theme is focused on curriculum by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) on the topic No Place for Hate. Brainstorming discussions will take place on how to be an ally to those who may experience hate, discrimination, sexism, racism, or to those who are marginalized in our world. Specifically, we will be engaged with mizvot for the homeless (the JFS Safe Parking program) and for migrants and immigrants affiliated with the group Otay Allies.

Mitzvah Bags
With everyone’s helping hands we will assemble 200 helper bags for the homeless, packed with a bottle of water, hand sanitizer, socks, chewy bars, juice and other items donated by the community. All attendees will be able to take at least two (2) helper bags to hand out to San Diego’s homeless on street corners.

Sign up HERE to volunteer to bring items for the mitzvah bags and PB&J sandwiches. The link to sign up is also in the weekly shmeer.
